Ready to try Gamay as you’ve never tried it before?
Seasons 52 Master Sommelier George Miliotes had the privilege of working directly with Beaujolais legend Georges Duboeuf to come up with the perfect blend of Gamay from 4 growing regions in France for Seasons 52′s latest offering for Drink Them Before They’re Famous.
The resulting wine, Jolie Saison, premieres at Seasons 52 next Tuesday, September 17, joining the hand-picked 100-bottle wine list.
For this episode of the VineSleuth Podcast, I had the opportunity to sit down with George Miliotes to discuss what it was like to blend wine with Georges Duboeuf and what all went into the partnership. We also discussed a few other wines that have been on Drink Them Before They’re Famous promotion, including Moscato, which Seasons 52 offered 10 years ago, and a few other things about sampling the wines on the list at Seasons 52.
The day after this podcast was recorded, I was able to return to the Darden Headquarters to taste Jolie Saison during a live webcast with Georges Duboeuf and George Miliotes… What a privilege just to be in the room!
Here’s what I recorded about the Jolie Saison Gamay:
Red and black fruits, nice backbone from the acid with a log, smooth finish long finish– this wine stays with you and in a very good way.
As George mentions in the podcast, this is a wine that will complement a variety of foods, from heavier foods to even lighter ones.
My advice? Give the podcast a listen and then make plans to head to a Seasons 52 next week, or soon, and then let me know what YOU think about the wine. Is it bound to become famous?
