If you are in Houston and you can’t go to France this July, celebrate Bastille in style  Saturday, July 14, from Noon to 3 p.m. at Philippe Restaurant + Lounge, which Wine Enthusiast just named one of the top 100 Best Wine Restaurants in America.

Sommelier Vanessa Trevino-Boyd, who shared a few wine secrets on VineSleuth earlier this year, has selected wine from six different regions of France, including Loire, Alsace, Burgundy, Cotes du Rhone and Bordeaux, to be poured with French bites of escargot, garbue, tarte al’onion flambe, rillettes and more from Master Chef of France, Philippe Schmit.

For dessert, Philippe will feature French pastries  (of course!) from pastry chef Jamie Kling.

There will also be live French “street” music and door prizes to complete the celebration.

If you are looking for the place to flaunt your French style, yet still be a bit Texan, this is the place!

Tickets are $50 per person and include food, wine pairing and entertainment.

Bastille Day is a national holiday in France which commemorates the Fête de la Fédération held on July 14th, 1790. On the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789 and the start of the French Revolution, a huge feast was held – Fête de la Fédération – to celebrate the uprising and the end of the absolute monarchy.
